Overview
The Annapurna Circuit Trek with Tilicho Lake is a classic and adventurous journey through the stunning Annapurna region of Nepal. Starting from Besisahar, the trek leads through lush landscapes, terraced fields, and charming villages, following the Marsyangdi River. One of the main highlights is reaching the beautiful village of Manang, offering a chance to acclimatize and soak in the rich cultural ambiance while gazing at the magnificent Annapurna and Gangapurna peaks. From here, trekkers take a detour to Tilicho Lake, one of the highest lakes globally, nestled at an elevation of 4,919 meters (16,138 feet). The lake’s turquoise waters and the surrounding glaciers and peaks create an awe-inspiring and surreal setting, making it a photographer’s paradise.
The trek continues to the challenging yet rewarding Thorong La Pass, standing at 5,416 meters (17,769 feet) above sea level. The ascent to the pass offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges, providing trekkers with an exhilarating sense of accomplishment. After crossing the pass, the trail descends to the mystical landscapes of Lower Mustang, with its unique geology and traditional Tibetan-influenced culture.
The journey further includes a visit to the sacred pilgrimage site of Muktinath, where travelers can experience the religious significance of the temple complex, adorned with natural flames and 108 water spouts. The trek eventually concludes in Jomsom or Nayapul, offering trekkers the choice of either a scenic flight or a drive back to the lakeside city of Pokhara.
